Why is an AI feature not working for me?

There are three usual reasons: you have used this month's AI uses, your plan does not include AI (Minimum has none), or our AI providers are briefly unavailable. The button tells you which: AI uses used up, a padlock with Upgrade to unlock, or AI features are not available right now. A try that fails never uses one of your AI uses.

#Work through these checks

1. Read the button. Each AI button says why it is not working instead of failing silently.
2. "AI uses used up": you have used this month's 100 AI uses on Entrepreneur (or its trial). They come back on the 1st of the month, UK time. The sidebar shows AI uses left this month. Clicking the button explains the options: wait for the reset, move to Enterprise (no monthly limit, fair use), or connect your own Claude or ChatGPT, which does not use AI uses. 3. A padlock, or "is on the Entrepreneur plan": your plan does not include AI features. Minimum has no AI; AI starts on Entrepreneur. See plans and prices.
4. "AI features are not available right now": every AI provider we use is out of reach at the moment. It comes back on its own. Everything that does not need AI keeps working. Try again later.
5. "Wait a moment and try again": you clicked a lot of AI buttons in one minute. Wait a minute and try again.
6. Blog posts: a full blog post is a Growth blog, counted separately from AI uses. Check Growth blogs left this month in the sidebar. See Growth blogs and AI uses.
7. Trial ended: when a trial ends without a plan, the app shows the plan chooser until you pick one. Your data is kept.

What AI answers, such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, say about your business is checked once a week, on Sunday morning in your local time, not on demand. #Did a failed try use up one of my AI uses?

No. A use is only counted when the AI answered. A failed or empty answer is not counted.

#What counts as one AI use?

Every AI action you click, such as writing a meta description, a content brief or an answer from Ask, uses one. Things you did not click, such as weekly emails and AI visibility tracking, never use one.

#Can I use AI on the Minimum plan?

Not inside the app. You can connect your own Claude or ChatGPT to your UtilitySEO data on any paid plan, and it runs on your own AI subscription: see use UtilitySEO in Claude or ChatGPT.
