How do I put my UtilitySEO data in Looker Studio?

Updated 2 min read

On this page

The UtilitySEO connector for Looker Studio (Google's free report builder, once called Data Studio) brings one project's data into your own reports, next to your other data. It updates by itself.

What you can chart

Each time you add the connector you pick one kind of data:

  • Rankings: each tracked search's position at every rank check, on desktop and mobile, with the AI Overview, map results position and the Google page features you own.
  • Search Console, by week: clicks, impressions, CTR and average position.
  • Search Console, by search: the same for each search over the weeks you choose.
  • Health: the health score and pages read at each site scan.
  • Backlinks: linking sites, links, authority, new and lost linking sites, month by month.
  • AI visibility: for each AI check and engine, how many answers named you and the share.

Add the connector again for each kind of data you want in the same report.

Set it up

  1. In UtilitySEO open Settings, Integrations. Under API keys for this project, tick Reports (Looker Studio), give the key a name such as "Looker Studio" and press Create key. Copy the key: it is shown once.
  2. Press Open the connector on the Looker Studio card. (While the connector is being published the card says Coming soon; your key already works with it.)
  3. In Looker Studio, choose Authorise, paste your key, pick the data and choose Connect.
  4. Add charts. Dates work as dates, so a time series chart shows the trend straight away.

Questions people ask

Which project does it show?

The project the key was made in. Make a key in each project you want to report on.

Can the key do anything else?

Only what you ticked. A key with only Reports can read these figures and nothing else: it cannot start scans or change anything. Revoke it on the same card at any time.

Why does Search Console data change only once a week?

It comes from UtilitySEO's weekly record of your Search Console figures, all countries, which also keeps your history past Google's 16 months.

Is there a limit?

Each key can make 60 requests a minute, which is plenty for a report. If a chart says "Too many requests", refresh it a minute later.
