What are Quick Wins, Cannibalization, Google freshness and Security check on the GA4 page?

On this page

The four buttons at the top of the GA4 page each run a quick check. Quick Wins finds pages that could earn more clicks from their current Google positions, Cannibalization finds searches where two of your pages compete, Google freshness checks one page for outdated markup, and Security check looks at one page's HTTPS and security settings. None of them uses AI uses.

Quick Wins

Works out, for every page with Search Console data, how many more clicks a month it could recover, and ranks pages by that gain. Each page is one of two kinds:

  • Rewrite title/meta: it ranks well but gets fewer clicks than its position usually earns. Rewrite its title and description so they match what people search and give a reason to click, request indexing in Search Console, and check again in four weeks.
  • Push to page 1: it sits just off page one. Add a section that fully answers the main search with its own heading, link to it from two or three strong related pages, and check again in four weeks.

Recoverable monthly clicks is the total. Treat it as a ceiling, not a promise: it uses the average click rate for each position, and a rewrite rarely closes the whole gap. Use it to decide where to spend your next hour.

Cannibalization

Cross-checks every search against the pages that rank for it and lists searches where two of your pages compete. For each it names the Winner (the page ranking best) and the Challenger, with their clicks, impressions and click rates. Plan the merge adds the steps to your to-do list: keep the winner, move anything useful across, redirect the challenger to it (a 301 redirect) or add a canonical tag, link to the winner from related pages, and request indexing. The figure shown is the size of the overlap, not a forecast of what comes back.

Google freshness

Fetches one page (your homepage to start with; you can type another address) and checks it for markup Google has stopped supporting and for newer requirements. It lists the structured data on the page (code that tells Google what the page is) and each problem with its severity. Run audit starts it.

Security check

Fetches one page and checks HTTPS, security headers, mixed content (insecure files on a secure page) and cookie settings, then gives a Security score out of 100 with issues marked critical, high, medium or low. Run check starts it. It only looks at what your server sends every visitor: it is not a penetration test, so for a full audit use a dedicated security tool.

Questions people ask

Do these need Google Analytics connected?

Quick Wins and Cannibalization read Search Console, so they need Search Console connected. Google freshness and Security check read your page directly.

Are these the same as the site scan?

No. The site scan checks every page it can reach for technical problems. These are quick single checks. See run a site scan.
