How do I see which countries and cities my visitors come from?
On this page
On the GA4 page, open the Geography tab. It reads your Google Analytics and shows which countries your visitors come from, with sessions, users and conversion rate for each, the share of all visits, and your top cities. It covers the date range chosen at the top of the page.

It needs Google Analytics connected and a property chosen. See connect Google Analytics.
The cards
- Countries reached: how many countries sent at least one visit.
- Top country: the one sending most visits, and its share of all sessions.
- Total sessions and Total conversions for the period.
Sessions by country
Each country with a bar for its share of visits, plus Sessions, Users and Conv % (the share of its sessions that converted). Visits Analytics could not place are listed as Unknown.
Top cities
The cities sending most visits, with sessions and users for each.
Using it
- Check visits match where you sell. A local business with most visits from abroad may be ranking for the wrong searches, or seeing bot traffic.
- Compare with Search Console. The Keywords page can show positions in one country only, with the country menu at the top. If a country sends visits but you rank poorly there, it may be worth a page for that market. See country, dates and export.
- Look at conversion rate by country. A country with many visits and no conversions may need a different page, delivery information or currency.
Questions people ask
It says no geographic data yet. Why?
Analytics recorded no visits in the period, or the property is new. Widen the date range, and check the tracking tag is on your pages.
Why are some visits listed as Unknown?
Analytics could not work out a location for them, often because of privacy settings or a network that hides location.
Is this the same as the Breakdown tab on Keywords?
No. Breakdown shows where people saw you in Google search (impressions and clicks by country). Geography shows where visitors to your site came from, by any route. See devices and countries.
