What does the Trends tab on Keywords show?
On this page
The Trends tab on the Keywords page charts your Search Console clicks, impressions, average position and click rate (CTR) day by day or week by week over the dates you picked. It also shows your busiest day of the week, how the second half of the range compares with the first, and your best and quietest days.

The cards
Four cards show Clicks, Impressions, Avg. position and CTR for the range, each with its own small line. Each compares the last days of the range with the same number of days before, so you can see where things are heading inside the range rather than only the average. Click a card for its breakdown.
Position is averaged across every search your site appeared for, weighted by how often each was seen. Lower is better, so a fall in position is good news; the arrows are coloured with that in mind.
The chart
- Which metric to chart: pick clicks, impressions, average position or click rate.
- Daily or Weekly: weekly points each cover a whole week from its Monday, with position averaged by impressions and the click rate worked out from that week's own figures.
- The position chart is drawn upside down, so the line goes up when your position improves.
- Under the chart, a line says how many days of history are shown and the oldest and newest dates.
The week's shape
Average clicks on each day of the week across the range. Your busiest day is named, because it is the day to publish before.
The second half of the range against the first
Where things are heading within the range you chose. It needs at least four days of history; widen the date range if it says there is not enough yet.
Days worth naming
Your best and quietest days in the range, with their clicks and impressions, and anything else that happened that day, such as a Google update.
Questions people ask
It says there is no history to chart yet. Why?
Search Console needs a few days of data for the site before a trend can be drawn. If you have been connected a while, widen the date range above.
Why are the most recent days missing?
Search Console runs two to three days behind, so the newest days are not in yet.
How do I see more than 16 months?
Google keeps about 16 months. Our own weekly records keep going after that: see Full history on the GA4 page's Organic Traffic tab. See organic traffic and keyword sessions.
