How do I connect a Strapi website?
On this page
In Strapi, create an API token under Settings, then API Tokens, with find and create access to your posts collection. Then in UtilitySEO open Project settings, find Strapi on the Connections tab, press Connect, and enter your Strapi API address, the collection name and the token. Strapi versions 4 and 5 both work.

Step 1: create an API token in Strapi
- In your Strapi admin, go to Settings, then API Tokens.
- Create a new token with find and create access to the collection your posts live in. To unpublish and remove posts from UtilitySEO, give it update and delete access too.
- Copy the token. Strapi shows it only once.
Step 2: connect it in UtilitySEO
- On the Projects screen, press the cog on the project to open Project settings.
- On the Connections tab, find Strapi and press Connect.
- Fill in: - Strapi API URL: the address of your Strapi, for example https://cms.yoursite.com. - Collection: the plural API ID from the Content-Type Builder, for example "articles". - API token: paste it.
- If your collection's fields are named differently from a standard Strapi article (title, content, description, slug), press My fields have different names and type yours. Leave excerpt and slug blank if your collection does not have them.
- Under Publish posts as, choose a draft or Publish immediately.
- Press Connect Strapi.
A note on checking the token
We check the token can read your collection. Strapi gives no way to check it can write without creating an entry, so a token missing the create permission only shows up on the first publish. The success message says publishing is not verified until the first post.
Apply title changes to your pages (optional)
If your site's pages also live in Strapi, fill in Pages collection (optional) with that collection's name. Then approved title and meta description changes from Opportunities apply straight to Strapi, with no copy-paste. Say which fields hold the Title, the Slug (how we match a live address to its entry) and the Meta description. Leave the meta description blank if the collection has none; then only titles are applied.
What you can do once connected
- Publish blog posts from the Blog Plan into your collection. See publish to your website.
- Unpublish a post (back to draft) or Remove from CMS to delete the entry.
- With a pages collection, apply titles and descriptions you approve.
Questions people ask
The first publish failed with a permission message. Why?

Can I use one Strapi for several projects?
Yes. The workspace owner can choose Every project in the workspace when connecting. See publishing connections and activity.
