Are my business details the same on Yell, Bing and other directories?
On this page
Directory listings checks whether your business name, address and phone number are the same on the main business directories for your country as in your Local setup. Listings that disagree make Google less sure which details are right, which can hold you back in the map results. Open Local, Directory listings.
Which directories
- UK: Yell, Thomson Local, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Facebook, Yelp, Scoot and 192.com, plus Checkatrade and TrustATrader if you do trade work (a plumber, a roofer and so on).
- Germany: Gelbe Seiten, Das Örtliche, 11880, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Facebook and Yelp.
- Netherlands: De Telefoongids, Openingstijden.nl, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Facebook and Yelp.
The country comes from Local setup (choose it there), or else from your project's country.
Before the first check
Add your business details in Local, Local setup: the business name, phone number, street and number, town or city and postcode, exactly as they appear on your website. The check compares every directory with these. If something is missing, the page says what and has a button to Open Local setup.
Run a check
Press Check my listings. The check runs in the background and takes a minute or two, because we wait a few seconds between requests to each directory. You can leave the page. After that it runs once a month by itself while you use UtilitySEO. If you change your details in Local setup, you can check again straight away (up to three checks a month).
What each result means
- Found and correct. The listing has your name, address and phone as in Local setup.
- Found with differences. We found your listing, but one or more details differ or are missing. The row shows theirs beside yours, field by field. Names often differ a little (some directories add the owner's name or "GmbH"), and the row shows exactly how it is listed.
- Not found. We searched the directory and none of the results is your business.
- Could not check. The directory did not answer just now. Search for your business there yourself, or wait for the next check.
- Check by hand. This directory does not let tools search it (it blocks them, needs a login, or asks tools not to in its rules), so we do not. Press Search ... on the row (for example Search Yell) to look for your business yourself.
Listed twice means the directory has another listing with your phone number or address. Ask the directory to remove the old one so people do not find outdated details.
Fixing a listing
Each row has a button to Claim or correct it, Add your business or Add or claim a listing, which opens the directory's own page for businesses. We never change or submit anything for you. Make the name, address and phone match your website and your Google Business Profile exactly.
Listings that need correcting and directories where you are missing also appear on Grow, Your growth list, so they sit with the rest of your to-do list.
Questions people ask
Why are so many directories "Check by hand"?
We only search directories that allow tools to search them, and we never get round a block. On 25 October 2026 that was Scoot in the UK and Das Örtliche and 11880 in Germany; none of the main Dutch directories allowed it. The rest have a link so you can check in a minute.
Do you add my business to directories?
No. Each directory wants the owner to claim or add a listing themselves, and the details you type there are yours. The page gives you the link to each.
Does it cost anything?
No. It reads public pages with our own crawler and uses no AI and no paid data.
